MY WHY
As a physician for almost 2 decades, I’ve always had a special relationship with tweens and teens. I love the babies but I had parent after parent tell me their tweens and teens always preferred to see me, and they preferred it too. My colleagues often said I had a very natural and effortless gift of getting through to tweens and teens and truly affecting change. I’ve facilitated so many conversations and healed so many relationships.
I've seen...
-
so many tweens and teens that may be stressed due to academic pressure or trying to fit in
-
kids getting bullied
-
kids make risky and poor decisions
-
kids suffer alone
-
kids face puberty with confusion and have unanswered questions about their best health.
-
kids that are anxious, depressed, and suicidal.
Tweens and teens go through a lot and navigating this phase of life can be tough for the child and the parent. With all of the emotions, attitudes, silence, and general physical and mental health concerns, parents can feel lost.
That’s where I come in…
I wanted to offer my tween and teen patients and their parents a solution outside of the 15 minutes of the exam room. Something they could dive into when they left or while they waited to see a counselor. Creative resources for parents to help improve communication and the parent-child relationship. Inspiration, motivation, positivity and real-life tools to help achieve healthy kids, happy parents, and whole families.
I’m Dr. Charnetta, a dedicated pediatrician, renowned communication strategist, tween & teen whole health expert, accomplished author, and speaker. As a mom and a pediatrician, I understand just how challenging the tween and teen years can be. Through my journals, workshops, speaking, collaborations, and other creative resources, I ignite conversations, inspire confidence, and improve mental and physical wellness in tweens and teens.
